The background to my embarking on the Perpetuity Training programme is that my 12 years in the army provided me with much of the knowledge that I needed to perform my role of Security Supervisor at the British Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal, which I was appointed to in July 2013. However, when I was offered the opportunity in October 2014 to upgrade my role to that of Transport Officer, it became clear that I would benefit from learning more about best practice to ensure that my colleagues are kept safe whilst working at the Embassy and when they are on the road.
The Perpetuity Training programme included modules covering health & safety procedures, physical security and risk management, all of which are important issues in respect of my current responsibilities.
The fact that the training programme was available via the distance learning method was a major advantage to me as it meant that I did not need to take time off work to attend a classroom type course. Instead, over a six month period, I was able to study and complete the six course modules without any disruption to my work.”
